About Johan Nielsen

I want to generate and drive new business based on continuous innovation and close customer interaction as a product manager, solution manager, business development manager, business strategist, through a CTO office or similar positions. Being a Tech Savvy I truly believe that technology is instrumental in making the world a better place, and I want to drive the business and technology development to make this happen.Areas I find interesting, and where I can significantly contribute to anyone's ambition to find and develop new business opportunities and technology are Autonomous Drive, Advanced Driver Assisted Services; Connecting Vehicles, Users, and Organisations; Developing novel business to business functionality such as Car Sharing, In Car Delivery, Car Fleet Services, Access to car health data; the Smart and Sustainable Cities; Telecom; Internet of Things; and Intelligent Transport, but also areas relating to enabling Sustainability and Environmental enhancements. I am always eager to discuss new ideas, points of views, and possibilities, so please don't hesitate to send me an invite or message, and we will take it from there.I am a visionary, strategic big-picture person that really enjoys driving new business based on technology and innovation forward. I believe that we are only at the very beginning the Digitalisation Revolution, we're merely scratching the surface of the digitilised era, and there are countless opportunities for us to harvest. With advances in technology such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Driven Approaches only the sky is the limit.I have throughout my career been driving and working with how to distribute functionality between distributed "nodes" (be it radio base stations or cars,, or ...) and a centralised cloud and/or management layer (be it an OSS or Connected Car Cloud). I have worked on both sides, but more importantly I've been working with joining the two sides into competitive solutions for our customers. This of course includes defining what data to gather, how to gather it, how to process and refine it, and what information and intelligence can be retracted from it.I have always worked in international and multicultural environments, and I thrive in such environments. Something happens in group dynamics when no specific group (such as white middle-aged men from Sweden) are dominant, this is when you unlock the full potential of the group allowing everyone to bring in their diverse backgrounds while striving to solve the tasks at hand in a unified way.

  • Volvo Cars
    Product Manager, Connected Cars
Volvo Cars Jun 2018 - Present
    Gothenburg, Sweden
I am the Product Manager of a SAFe ART within Volvo Cars. The ART consists of 13 agile teams. The ART is responsible for the cloud functionality for products and areas such as* Volvo on Call* Support for B2B functionality such as - Fleet Services, - 3PS, e.g. In Car Delivery and Extended Vehicle* Volvo ID and Polestar ID* Enabling and supporting functionality for the above mentioned areas- This includes migration and refactoring of functionality to new cloudbased and scalable platforms.- This also means that we have close collaboration with our peer ARTS responsible for Car functionality and App / Web functionality. The ART is taking on full DevOps responsibility. This organisation took its first, maiden steps towards Agile and SAFe as I joined the organisation. Hence, a lot of my time and efforts has gone into guiding and coaching the ART, including its teams, how the Agile way of working can be realised, and start reaping the benefits of having high-performing empowered teams. This has included much guidance and coaching towards our external stakeholders regarding how we work within the ART and what is expected /and not expected) from them. This in order to get the ART running as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
  • Ericsson
    O&M Driver
    Ericsson Jan 2000 - Jun 2017
I drove the O&M area forward by taking on several leading roles in key projects andstudies within the Radio organisation of Ericsson. My guiding star has always been to automate anddistribute as much relevant O&M functionality as possible, this in order to significantly lower the cost of running the networks, as well as increasing the quality and utilisation of the networks.Furthermore, I participated in two transitions from the Waterfall way of working to the Agile and Scrum way of working, as two of my organisations decided to move to Agile way of working.
  • Ericsson
Systems Manager O&M, Product Development Unit Oss / Network Analytics And Management
    Ericsson Nov 2013 - May 2017
    Stockholm, Sweden
I proposed, and was given the role as O&M ambassador within Ericsson, between the radio organisation, Ericsson Research, and the organisation i belonged to. In the multi-country organisation Ericsson has tight collaboration and interaction across borders is needed, and my main purpose was to drive and enable engineers to talk to each other rather than escalating issues to senior management.Furthermore I drove some, and participated in many studies to enhance the O&M functionality in Ericsson radio networks as well as OSS. These studies covered aspects like Network and RAN Slicing, SDN/NFV, autonomic networking, Energy Efficiency, and SON.
  • Ericsson
System Manager O&M, Product Development Unit Wcdma And Multistandard Ran (3G)
    Ericsson Jan 2010 - Oct 2013
    Stockholm, Sweden
I was handpicked as study driver to define, describe and anchor a new and scalable O&M Architecture for operating and managing radio networks as these were predicted to grow by a factor 10 or 100. We defined a complete and truly scalable O&M system architecture including functional distribution in future radio networks and OSS systems that is highly autonomous and distributed. Ericsson entered a new product segment, where existing O&M solutions did not meet the requirements. To allow a new solution to be realised the Ericsson CTO assembled a small team from the most suitable candidates from all relevant departments, I was one of these individuals. This product segment mandated a completely new O&M paradigm to drastically lower the running cost of the node, and to allow it to be managed by less skilled technicians. Many of our features and proposals were Ericsson-first, later included in all other Ericsson radio nodes.I was also the System Area Responsible for the SON area within PDU WCDMA and Multistandard RAN.
  • Ericsson Research
    Senior Research Engineer, Ericsson Research
    Ericsson Research Jan 2004 - Dec 2009
    Stockholm, Sweden
I was responsible for developing and driving the O&M area forward within Ericsson Research. This included participating in all phases of multiple EU-funded research projects, from preparation of project proposals, via making sure Ericsson participation in these projects, to transferring the developed knowledge internally Ericsson. The sizes of these external projects ranged from 5+ companies providing 10:ish full time resources, 30+ partners with 100+ full time resources.
  • Ericsson
    Research Engineer
    Ericsson Jan 2000 - Dec 2003
    Stockholm, Sweden
I was part of the Ericsson team that drove and coordinated pan-European preparation and coordination work leading up to the EU commission releasing their 6th Framework Program for EU-funded research on future mobile systems.
  • Ericsson
    Master Thesis Student
    Ericsson Jun 1999 - Dec 1999
    Stockholm, Sweden
My Master thesis project was about implementing and verifying Bluetooth IP network routing behaviour over large networks into a network simulator.
