As of May 2024 I am working as independent consultant and doing projects with my previous employer AFRY and other consulting companies as partner and subconsultant. I have extensive experience and knowledge in designing, improving and managing production and logistic systems. I am interested in project assignments as well as management for hire.

Dimensioning and simulation of new factory for anode material for batteriesThe materials are highly-engineered through a complicated process consisting of multiple steps and a variety of production and material handling equipment.The Initial assignment aimed to develop, simulate, and analyze the conceptual design of Vianode's planned process facility and assist in finalizing the factory layout, sizing the equipment, and visualizing logistics flows. The assignment has also included the overall control logic for the process. AFRY and Johan is now involved in the detailed design together with Vianode and the main system and equipment provider. In addition to Johan Ohlson, who serve as is AFRY project manager and simulation expert, a number of simulation specialists have participated at various stages of the assignment.

Design and simulation of internal internal logistics for several plants around the world.Data and requirement analysis. Propose solutions e.g. warehouse, equipment and layout. Process and Value stream mapping. Static analysis as well as detailed simulation of proposed solutions (including production lines). Creating guidelines for best practice.

A number of focused managment advisory assignments consisting of; Assesment of current As-Is situation, Workshops to create To-Be proposals, Training & mentoring of the organization to specify and implement the final solution. Aming at designing or improving manufacturing & logistic systems with world class delivery performance and cost efficiency.

Below few of the assignments through AFRY are described. On top of these I have been involved in several other projects concerning design and improvement of manufacturing and logistics systems within the automotive, engineering, medical and other industries.

Dimensioning and simulation of new assembly plant for robotsThe assignment was to develop, simulate, and analyze the conceptual design of ABB Robotics new state of the art assembly plant. Johan has also assisted in project methodology and implementation. Two simulation specialists from AFRY has also participated in the project.

GAP Analysis, Capacity and Efficiency ImprovementFibo wanted to increase the production efficiency and capacity, A GAP analysis was made to identify required capacity increase at different production steps from goods receiving to shipping.Lost production due to scrap and time losses due to other reasons was identified. Actions to increase production and efficiency was proposed; quality improvements, changes in process and planning and where needed new investments.

Design of a conceptual warehouse solution for spare parts. The project included:- Analyzing and setting requirement specification for handling future flows and stock volumes.- Design of processes and proposals for equipment- Dimensioning of resources- Layout for warehouse and yardThe project was carried out by Johan and two additional AFRY consultants in collaboration with a number of people from Volvo.

Design and Simulation of Automated Distribution CenterSimulation of the basic design for a new highly automated warehouse, analyzing capacity, flexibility and capability and identifying bottlenecks. The project also provided valuable feedback as input for further system design. The simulation covered a system solution comprising of all resources (equipment and operators) and control logic (WMS, WCS and PLC). Two simulation specialists from AFRY participated. The project was performed in close cooperation with Mathem and suppliers of hardware and software.

Design of Production and Logistics SystemHVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a business unit within Power Grids. HVDC is highly efficient for transmitting large amounts of electricity over long distances and a key enabler in the future energy systems. In order to meet a growing demand for HVDC products, the production system in Ludvika is going through a total remake. I have a had a key role as Senior Consultant to design a totally new production line for a new product generation as well as reshaping the entire production and logistic system at Ludvika. I also facilitated FMEA workshops (both design and process) to improve quality.

New production facility for SOEC SOEC (solid oxide elektrolyser cell) is a technology for electrolysis which is used to produced e.g. green hydrogen. A new technology with no experience from large scale production.Together with a team from AFRY and the customer I developed and evaluated different concepts to produce the cells. The production process consist of a large number of steps, each with its own requirements and alternative production methods/equipment. All aspects was included e.g. Capacity, Flexibility, Quality, Cost, Time to market, IT-systems, Equipment, Logistics, Sourcing equipment and in-going material.

Enterprise Architecture - Senior Project Manager/Business AnalystGKN Aerospace Engine Systems consists of a number of sites around the world. Mainly in Sweden, Norway and the US. GKN Aerospace Engine Systems has been formed through mergers and acquisitions resulting in a diversity of business processes, systems, infrastructure and lack of integration. An Enterprise Architecture project was started to enable the transition towards one global integrated business. In the EA initiativ I have worked with:- Creating a structured and holistic description of the enterprise- Creating a common EA framework- As-is and To-be mapping- Impact assessment of changes on a global and local scale- Governance of the Enterprise Architecture

Project at Volvo Cars

The first half year working for operational development, since June 2017 in logistics. The goal of the logistic project is to redesign the logistic processes, to drastically reduce the area required and to ensure that there is sufficient space for coming car models and in-sourced operations. The project involves changing both internal and external processes while enhancing efficiency. December 2016, I was recruited for the position as project manager for a hugh OD/IT project “One Engineering Environment”. The purpose of the project was to quality assure the manufacturing design process and shorten development lead-time by coordinating all sub-activities for In-plant process design/redesign. A main enabler and task was to create a common IT-platform for integrated data, full virtual verification and transparent change management. January 2nd, just after I started, new top management decided to stop the IT project. The work instead focused on improving collaboration between Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics and suppliers, as well as Lean Guiding Principles and front loading development activities

Volvo/Mack Trucks USA in-sourced rear axles from an outside supplier to the Powertrain plant in Hagerstown. A brand new production setup that did not exist anywhere else within Volvo. One of the most challenging areas for the project was logistics. New parts and new suppliers, to be completed with a very tight schedule. Except for budget, capacity, equipment and resources issues for logistics I had the overall responsibility for the layout. I was also been deeply involved in many issues concerning assembly and machining.Engaged as a consultant, first via O2D Consulting, since 2014 through Xdin Inc.

Vice President, Production & Logistics, responsible for purchase, production and logistics. Member of the Executive Board. In addition to the running tasks, I have also been responsible for the design and acquiring of new premises and ISO certification.

Effpower developed batteries for hybrid and start/stop applications for the automotive industry. Except for managing supply chain issues, my job was to set up a factory to start production of key components in the batteries. I also managed a quality improvement project at one of the key suppliers

Manager for the department Manufacturing & Logistics Development.Responsible for business planning, budgeting, reaching business goals, sales and personnel. Involved in customer projects concerning change management, implementation and operational activities.At the start the department consisted of the department Order to Delivery that ÅF acquired from Xdin. At ÅF the department grew and covered a wider business.

During the later years at Xdin I was responsible for the business within the Order to Delivery area and member of the management team. I also participated in consulting projects mainly concern increasing efficiency and/or designing new production and logistic systems. I have been involved in a large number of projects in various industries such as the automotive industry, manufacturing industry, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, and electronics industry. In 2006 Xdin started a move towards focusing on the key business “consulting services for product development”. This process, lead in 2007 to the sale of the “Order to Delivery” business to ÅF Engineering. I continued in the same position at ÅF.

During the period 2000-2003 Xdin had several daughter companies one of them was Xdin Simulations, which I was the president of. Xdin then decided to have all business gathered in one company Xdin AB. I then became Manager for the department Order to Delivery.Consulting as well as IT-support and software were important parts of the business. Except for simulations we worked with design and visualization of layouts, animations, production planning and databases.

During this period I successfully developed my own company. The work was similar to Xdin above. One main business activity was “Virtual Manufacturing”. Except for consulting services, a big part of the business consisted of software sales. At Kestra I built up a network of software developers/suppliers and developed the market in Sweden and Europe. The software suppliers were mainly from the US. In Europe we developed a network of partners. In 1999 I was approached by Xdin, which was interested in acquiring the company, which they did.

Cresentia was a very successful Swedish Management Consulting company. Most of my former colleagues have continued their careers at companies like McKinsey, Accenture, Arthur D. Little. The projects concerned business strategy, marketing, production and purchase mainly for manufacturing companies.
