I started my professional career at 18 in hospitality, where I worked for 8 years, enjoying working and traveling in different countries, experiencing different cultures. In this industry I expanded my soft skills, including but not limited to my customer service, adaptability, communication, work ethics and problem-solving, while working alone or in a team. After those 8 years, I decided to try something new for a new challenge.I then worked for 3 years as a corporate security officer, contracted by a security company to work at Oaknorth Bank & AI (europe's number 1 fastest growing company in 2020 - FT1000).I used a computer on a daily basis as my job involved writing reports in order to communicate information efficiently with the rest of the security team; and to help the new members, I initiated the creation of a security handbook, where I wrote all the information required to work at this site.As this corporation is a Fintech, it gave me the opportunity to meet some of its staff working in the IT department. During my encounters with them, being curious by nature, I learnt a lot about the IT world, which started my interest in this field. Still unsure as to whether to pursue a career in data science or project management, based on my skills and interests, I was fortunate to come across the Data Analyst programme from Generation, and to be selected for this course.I completed a project alongside other team-members, which consisted of finding relevant data to be able to answer questions using Power BI. Helping each other was a key to the success of our project.I also refined, updated and distributed existing reports. Ensuring these remain accurate and fit-for-purpose following the analysis that my colleagues and I have made.I strongly believe that data intelligence is required to make informed decisions, in order to get better results and lead to the growth and evolution of any organisation. As someone who personally benefited from one of Generation's programme, I experienced and witnessed how this great non-profit organisation founded by McKinsey & Company, is helping and transforming people, and I love to be a part of it.I believe and I am positive about the power of technology for the betterment of the planet and its people, as Generation practices, by using 21st century learning to run education to employment bootcamps.
