The need for more and more information in the modern society is changing rapidly. The use of Social networks involves another way of communication and implicit of information transfer. It’s not easy to overview the full contents of tweets, threats, email discussions and other multi user information collections. It might be useful to have specialized staff at hand to handle this.As a document controller I often wonder why we create single (closed) documents using templates that create minor important pages that are never read. These documents are most likely written by one (1) author which is often a manager. In most cases the author is also the person that maintains his/her document. Information in single documents is therefor often not up-to-date.By using more open information structures (like HTML pages) we could improve the usefulness of information. This has to be done by (again) specialized staff that is familiar with linking documents.And why do we still avoid to use a TDAP structure to produce information?Companies took/take various initiatives to enhance their business processes. Documentation always was, and always will be, the last point of attention. But documentation is important to control our processes (ISO-9xxx, etc.) We need to find ways to produce and maintain necessary information in a productive process, which is also cost-acceptable.The Information Engineer controls (these new) information-flows. He/she analyzes the current flows and proposes enhancements. He/she works closely with the Information Architect.
