Raubex KZN (Pty) Ltd is a road construction and rehabilitation company and is a 100% owned subsidiary of Raubex Group Limited, a JSE listed company. Raubex KZN (Pty) Ltd was formed after the merger of Phambili Road Surfacing (Pty) Ltd, Roadmac Surfacing KZN (Pty) Ltd and Space Construction (Pty) Ltd).At Raubex KZN (Pty) Ltd I lead a team of 6 people that is responsible for the full accounting and financial management function. Key responsibilities include the following: Reviewing, reconciling and assisting accounts receivable and accounts payable departments, intercompany accounts, cash book controls, petty cash, review and authorize payments, maintaining of controls over assets, preparation of budgets and annual financial statements, managing insurance coverage, submission of VAT and tax returns and liaison with internal and external auditors. A further focus area was to improve the company’s BEE score as this has become a critical aspect in obtaining government projects.I have also successfully managed the merger and restructuring of three Raubex companies (Phambili Road Surfacing (Pty) Ltd, Roadmac Surfacing KZN (Pty) Ltd and Space Construction (Pty) Ltd) and the statutory name change of Space Construction (Pty) Ltd to Raubex KZN (Pty) Ltd. This gave me valuable insight into the pitfalls and opportunities surrounding a merger and statutory name change.Additional responsibilities from a Raubex Group perspective included the oversight of the accounting of Centremark Roadmarking, a 60% owned subsidiary of Raubex Group Limited, and the consolidation of the Centremark Roadmarking branches on a monthly basis.
