Standard Insurance Limited is the short-term insurer in the Standard Bank Group providing insurance services and solutions to the Standard Bank Personal and Business customer base. During my term SIL became the 10th largest short-term insurer in South Africa. The 2016 KPMG annual insurance update in respect of 2015 results confirmed that SIL is the number one short-term insurer in terms of overall Underwriting Margin, Loss Ratio and Expense Ratio.SIL obtained an improved credit rating of Aa1.za from Moody's on 10 May 2016.

Standard Bank offers a range of short-term commercial insurance solutions to their Corporate, Commercial and Business Banking customers. I lead a team of highly skilled people to set up a new distribution and insurance business to deliver this proposition whilst creating value for both customer and shareholder.

Mainly responsible for - the growth of the Bancassurance business in Rest of Africa countries where Standard Bank operates- setting the strategic vision and direction for the business- developing the business and growing earnings by identifying new opportunities and balancing deployment of resources- stakeholder management (internal and external) and strategic projects in various countries- negotiate appropriate profit share arrangements- developing plans to overcome legal constraints to operate Bancassurance in identified countries.2. Also responsible to oversee the finance function for the Wealth Africa division which includes Bancassurance and Private Banking for 13 countries in which Standard Bank operates.

As Audit Senior I was responsible to manage teams of audit clerks assigned to audits where I assumed end-to-end responsibility for the audit.

Auditing of a wide range of companies which included the drafting of annual financial statements and preparation of their annual tax calculations and returns.
