Johan de Wit is a (retired) senior CIO and Program manager. Still happy to share his expertise and experience with others who are CIO or want to become a CIO or Digital leader. Starting in 1970 he followed a traditional IT career at that time - starting at the Dutch central bank (from programmer to database administrator), via IT management consultancy (from consultant to partner/director) to IT director/CIO for ING Bank. He was asked to join the IT management of ING Bank Netherlands in 1996. Later he was appointed to be CIO and became responsible for a massive reorganization of the IT of ING Bank. In 2005 he was asked to go to India and improve the IT of ING Vysya Bank in Bangalore. He also managed various IT/business programs. The financial crisis in 2008 made him leave ING. After some sabbatical he was asked in 2011 to become CIO a small though international company in the publishing sector. In the current digital world organisations have to be flexible and swift to offer new and renewed services and products. IoT, Cloud, Mobile, Big data/analytics/AI, Agile and Social media forces IT to adopt a customer- and app-centric approach and become one with "the business" (an IT-term). The implications of (sometimes radical) changes for both the organisation and IT are enormous while "keeping the lights on" is also necessary. Focusing on the desired digital profile of the company, Johan gets energy from helping to improve the role and performance of IT in order to modernize and boost business objectives and results. He stands for a focus on integrating - data driven - digital components in a secure setting, thereby changing the business model, while - in parallel - implementing necessary changes in IT re. technology, skills, people and sourcing. Johan is happy to share his experience with other CIO's or CXO's who struggle with such transformation. As from 2014 he helped various IT executives to improve their personal heading and focus. He was associate director / ambassador for CIONET Netherlands (an IT Executive platform with > 700 digital leaders in NLD, > 9000 worldwide) in which role he is happy to help his colleagues once again.
