I was part of a Student team that built a customized compressor for a Predator drone prototype with a dual wing system. My role involved using MATLAB to run models of airflow through an axial compressor to achieve desired pressure ratio ranges, volumetric flow rates and calculate ideal dimensions. Using Solidworks, our team built models based on calculated dimensions that were 3D printed and tested for Air Force use.

Interned at an aircraft maintenance hangar at the Nampa Municipal Airport where I learned to use lathes, mills, and other heavy equipment in the machine shop to machine parts for different aircraft (Cessna’s, Kodiak’s, King Air’s, etc). In addition, I assisted supervisor in developing a new FAA-approved method for testing spray patterns of fuel nozzles (in reverse airflow turboprop engines) using a custom built spray pattern imprint device that utilized steel wool, a fan, cone nozzle, etc.
