Johan Junker Work Experience Details
  • Arbonics
    Business Consultant
    Arbonics
    Stockholm, Se
  • Antourage
    Ceo & Co-Founder
    Antourage Nov 2015 - Present
    Stockholm, Sweden
Antourage brings sports brands together with fans. Television is dead, and the new broadcast media are inherently participatory. I have a clear vision of the tool that must be built for clubs, leagues and federations to keep control of their rights and their market, and to learn about their audience.
  • Bear County
    Owner
Bear County Sep 2013 - Present
    Stockholm, Sweden
I reopened my production company to work on projects in the advertising industry so that I could take jobs to fund my new venture in the tech industry called Antourage. I also felt that it was important to keep my contacts live and my experience fresh.
  • Discovery Networks Sweden
    Creative Director
Discovery Networks Sweden Feb 2012 - Aug 2013
    Stockholm, Sweden
I was hired at Discovery Networks because I had built a reputation in digital media, and they wanted to push into new areas. I had a knowledge base that they needed. I knew where digital viewers were and how they behaved. I knew how to produce and market digital media. Moving from independent projects to working at a major TV network was an important move for me to make. I wanted to see what I could accomplish with a guaranteed audience, a large budget, and a big, stable team. The networks set targets for digital media presence and I exceeded those targets. In the first year we accomplished 15 nominations and 8 statuettes at the Promax Global Excellence Awards in Los Angeles 2013 - all in digital media categories. I was still dissatisfied, though, because I could see how much potential was untapped. I had achieved a lot in my career so far, but even being at a high position in my chosen field wasn't going to let me create my vision for what media could be. I had a lightbulb moment one day when I was getting a coffee: I knew that I needed to create my own tools to achieve what I wanted, so I set out to do it.
  • Eskils Junker Film
    Ceo & Executive Producer
Eskils Junker Film Aug 2005 - Jan 2012
    Stockholm, Sweden
I started my own production company with a partner so I could take on some film projects. Early on, we caught the kind of break that only happens in movies: we found a disused property that the owners were willing to sublet very cheaply. Our tiny production company of 2 people moved into a 4-floor building that had been used as a school. The toilets didn't work, and the layout was very strange, but we had more space than we knew what to do with. To fill up the space and share some of our good luck in finding it, we invited all kinds of creatives to move their teams into the building, and work alongside us. With this move, we became a centre of creativity in Stockholm, mentored artists of all kinds, and had instant access to a small army of freelancers whenever we needed extra help on a project. Our company was founded in the same year as Youtube, and we couldn't stop thinking about the possibilities. We found these digital platforms inspiring, and we produced videos for Youtube in its first year. We managed to talk ourselves into doing a video for Boys Noize. That video went viral, and suddenly people from all over the world were calling us for work. We worked with some very big names, and did some work that I'm really proud of.
  • Adamsky
    Producer
    Adamsky Jan 2007 - Jan 2009
    Stockholm, Sweden
I got involved with Adamsky when they were just starting the process of becoming a photographer agency. I had social contact with the founders, and I hope I had some influence on their decision to include video production under their agency umbrella, which was an unorthodox move at the time. For years, my team was sent out to do their video work. Adamsky wanted to be a different kind of agency. They didn't just want to send creatives out on jobs; they wanted to be a hub where creatives could touch base with what was happening in the community. They succeeded in becoming that, and they're an influential presence in the European market today.
  • Linkdetails
    Art Director
    Linkdetails Jan 2003 - Oct 2006
    Stockholm, Sweden
Link is an agency for every skill required in still photography production. I began working with them as a part-time measure to pay my bills while I built my own film production company. Since I was working for the money, I named a high price, which they couldn't meet, but they agreed to work with me to attract the jobs that would pay that price, and we succeeded together in building to that point. With them, I made a ton of contacts, did a lot of work, and learned that I like working in still photography but I love working in video.
  • Fascion Magazine
    Founder / Art Director
    Fascion Magazine Aug 2003 - Jun 2005
    Stockholm, Sweden
Straight out of art school I wanted to be my own boss. So when my friend Jesper had a plan to start Fascion Magazine, a magazine that focused equally on fashion and art, I agreed to join the project. Jesper and I had different visions and no business plan, but those don't seem like obstacles when you're ambitious and optimistic, straight out of school. It was great fun, and a tremendous learning opportunity. The magazine allowed us to work at a high level of artistry. We were never financially solid and we alienated our advertisers with the extreme nature of the art in our second issue, but this was a passion project that taught me a lot of the basics of my work: pitching, working with advertisers, and producing media projects by coordinating the work and talent of many, many creative minds. The project didn't last - most magazines fail - but this high level of creativity launched my and my colleagues' careers. It built my network and let me try my skills at an ambitious project.
