About Johanna Elder

What shapes our working life. The job at Burger King age 15, the graduate programme taking you to London, the first promotion, the secondment to Bermuda, perhaps the global role in a large corporation or could it be having the confidence to shake it up. In June 2019 I left behind my computer and corporate clothes for a yoga mat in Sri Lanka. I achieved my yoga qualification and so much more, back to learning and opening the mind as well as body. The teaching of philosophy, anatomy and  meditation. I then took the traditional concept of yoga and added glitter, disco music and cocktails to launch my own business, Electric Groove Yoga. To support my income I waitressed at IndigoYard, Edinburgh. The pride in a good tip could feel as rewarding as an annual bonus. The pandemic put a hold on this path but opened up a greater adventure.. becoming a mummy to my wonderful son Ziggy. While I was pregnant I started to volunteer for the National Childcare Trust (NCT). I initially volunteered as their branch coordinator bringing the dormant Edinburgh branch back to life, recruiting volunteers and supporting expectant parents and new families in a time when it was most needed. I am now ready and excited for the next challenge, combining my recent life experiences with my recruitment career.
