NIBIO is Norway’s largest interdisciplinary research institute in the agricultural and environmental sphere, one of Norway’s largest research institutes and home of the Norwegian National Forest Inventory. Since 1919 the National Forest Inventory provides detaild information on the condition and development of Norway’s forest resources. The data and statistics derived from over 13,000 sample plots are used by governmental bodies, public administration, and the forest industry.Better information leads to better decisions. As a project leader for the Norwegian Forest Resources Map (SR16) my research at NIBIO aims to provide better information on forest resources. The main focus lies on combining data from the Norwegian National Forest Inventory with remotely sensed data using statistical models to produce a nationwide forest resource map in unmatched detail.
