Raising the department from scratch ! Execution of policy making tasks through statutory bodies; Board of Faculties, Academic Council, BASR, Selection Board and miscellaneous committees...Planning/Developing of complete departmental facilities; electrical works, HVAC for different campus zones, civil works' improvement to the existing building structures, setting offices for faculty/staff, cable intranet networking & communication lines, electrification & plumbing lines & fittings, furnishing & fixtures, access ways and ramps, office automation infrastructure, planning for safety and fire prevention/detection/fighting arrangements as far as university infrastructure goes.Hiring and managing new teaching and non-teaching staff personnel, student enrolment, documentation and admissions process coordination, curriculum development and acquiring approvals from HEC/PEC authorities, developing lab SOPs, equipment deployment strategies etc.Preparing engineering laboratories for the UG program courses, their setup and related lab furniture and automation toolware, tendering for laboratory equipment, technical/financial scrutiny through comparison matrices, procurement ordering and inspection, received items deployment in labs and commissioning.....Latest labs developed are a) the CAE center, b) the Machines Lab, while in the next phase of labs would include a) CIM center, b) Process Control lab and c) Heat Transfer lab that are shaping up fast.

Worked with Dr Paul Mummery (Professor of Nuclear Materials, in Materials Science Center, U. Manchester) and Dr Lee Margetts (HPC Specialist at University of Manchester) on characterization through modelling large-scale FE models of ceramic composites and open-celled foams. Facilities utilized included XRay computerized Tomography kit, XRD, FEG SEM, Spark Erosion machine, to name a few. Teamed with Dr. Phillipe Young (U. Exeter), Dr. Francisco Calvo Plaza (U. Manchester) and Mr Vendel Szeremi (PhD Student at U. Manchester), Simpleware software and ParaFEM code was enhanced to a level where very large datasets transformed from tomograms to FE models were processed and analysed on highly parallel computing platforms, such as HPCx (U. Edinburgh) and HECToR (UK).

During this time, along with the requisite teaching assignment for the UG classes of Mechanical Engineering students, I took time out to plan and establish a new lab for the composite materials processing as an upgrade to the materials science course for the UG curriculum. I was helped by one colleague who made it possible for the larger organisation to provide us manpower as well as the basic platform on campus to set-up this facililty which is in use for the practical learning about composites in the materials science course to-date.
