I have been in the steel tubing industry since 1987 . Worked at various jobs through out the plant. Everything from Labourer to Mill operator. All types of material handling, small forklifts right up to 60,000 pound coil trucks. Shipper and crane operator. In 2001 I had the opportunity to apprentice as a millwright. Took the opportunity to go back to school and learn a trade. In 2004, I passed the Certificate of Qualification exam with an inter-provincial certification. Soon after being licensed, I worked as sole mechanic on the slitter line. Did some time in fabrication shop as a Licensed CWB welder. Was offered, and accepted, position as a CWB welding supervisor. After a few years I moved on to the maintenance department of the Large mill, where I was offered the opportunity as maintenance planner.My responsibilities include planning for in-house and contractor maintenance. Continually update PM tasks and frequencies. Create PM's for new equipment. Purchase parts/tools for work to be completed.
