An award-winning Landscape Architect, Parks Planner, Horticulturalist who has successfully worked across Canada for provincial, municipal and regional levels of government. He has been involved in the development of a Horticultural Training program at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, now part of Dalhousie University, as well as an instructor in Landscape Architecture at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Desgin. John was also Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Edmonton, Alberta. He was responsible for various Park and Recreation functions including park maintenance, delivery of recreational services, and facility functions. He developed a technical standards manual on grounds maintenance for the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association.At the Niagara Parks Commision as Director of Horticulture he was responsible for planning, directing, design, layout and scheduled maintenance of lands and floral displays for the Commission. His responsibilities also included overseeing the operation of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School of Horticulture, the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, and all arboriculture work of the Commission.He has been known as the "Hort Pro", contributing articles of interest for Rittenhouse Sprayers.Since 1998, as a registered O.A.L.A Landscape Architect, he has provided Landscape Architectural services primarily for high-end residential and estate properties, commercial & institutional sites, and various governmental agencies.
