John Burns’ professional background includes over 50 years of executive management experience in development, finance and technology. He has extensive experience in managing corporate activities for both public and private companies, from startup to acquisition. In 2019, Mr. Burns was founder, Chairman & CEO Moca Financial Inc until retiring in 2024. At Moca he raised over $20 million and built a nationwide company that provides VISA debit, credit and prepaid cards to the defense department, financial institutions and fintechs.In 2009, Mr. Burns co-founded Fisoc, Inc. (Buzzpoints), helped raise over $30 million, and served as Chairman & CVO.In 2005, Mr. Burns founded SkyVue Wireless to provide broadband internet services to banks and credit unions. SkyVue was acquired by publicly-traded ERF Wireless and he served on its board of directors and CEO of its banking services subsidiary. In 2003, Mr. Burns founded MoneyVue, creator of Reward Checking accounts deployed by hundreds of banks and credit unions. In 2005, MoneyVue was acquired by BancVue Ltd (now Kasasa) after which Mr. Burns served on its board of directors until 2010. Kasasa recently sold for 9-figures to The Riverside Company.In 1995, John Burns was founder, Chairman, CEO & President of FundsXpress, the leading Internet Banking company providing services to over 800 financial institutions and millions of users. He raised over $80 million in equity. FundsXpress was acquired by First Data (Apiture) in a 9-figure, all cash transaction. In 1988, Mr. Burns founded Mesa Systems to provide networks and other advanced technology products to community financial institutions.In 1976, Mr. Burns founded and was President of Balcones Computer Corporation who designed advanced technology products for Xerox, Microsoft and Ford. He also wrote the Boss Financial Accounting System, a first for microcomputers. In 1974, Mr. Burns founded Burns Development to develop his family's $5 million Greystone Office and Retail Complex on N. Mopac Freeway in Austin, Texas. Mr. Burns is a past President of the Board of Directors of the Science Academy of Austin where he was recognized in 1998 as the Volunteer of the Year by the Austin Independent School District. He is a past winner of the 5 Star Endorsed Vendor award from the Independent Bankers Association of Texas. Mr. Burns also served on the Board of Directors of the Lost Pines Art Center in Bastrop, TX.Mr. Burns holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas where he attended on a football scholarship under the legendary coach Darrell Royal.
