John E. Ahern began his career in the medical technolgy field as an undergraduate at Rutgers. He interned as a medical writer for Opinion Research, Princeton, NJ and Cummins MacFail and Nutry, New Brunswick, NJ. After graduation, he worked as a medical copywriter and account executive on projects for Baxter, Johnson & Johnson, CR Bard and Becton Dickinson. He subsequently held sales, marketing and management positions at Becton Dickinson, Abbott Laboratories and CR Bard. In addition to larger corporations, Mr. Ahern has also held a senior management position in a venture-backed start up, IntraSonix. As CEO, he was instrumental in bringing a team into NMT Medical and averting an imminent bankruptcy of that publically traded company and repositioned the company as a leader in the structual heart repair field. Mr. Ahern has extensive international business experience and has lived in the Middle East and Europe. He is inventor on six U.S. patents and foreign counterparts in the field of drug delivery, tissue engineering, cardiac regeneration and structural heart disease. Mr. Ahern is a member of the American Heart Association Council on Stroke, and Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology. He has served as a director or advisor to several public and private medical technology companies. He currently is a director for CardioMag Imaging, Inc.Specialties: Experienced business executive in US and international medical technology markets.
