The project shall also prepare the stakeholders to enter carbon trading successfully.BackgroundThe Niger Delta lies in the Atlantic Guinea Coast, between latitude 3°N and 6°N, and longitude 5°E and 8°E. The region is made up of low land rain forest,wetland, creeks, tributaries and lagoons flung across approximately 70,000 square kilometers, the delta has an extremely delicate and sensitive ecosystem. It is Africa’s largest wetland and the second largest in the world after the Mississippi. It contains large patches of natural lowland rainforests, important freshwater wetlands, mangroves, and coastal areas under tropical climatic conditions, resulting in an internationally recognized abundance of biodiversity.
