I was recruited to join a new internal group specializing on securities firms and promoted to Associate after 3 years as an Analyst, which was the earliest I could have been promoted. As an Associate in the group, I served as a contractor for the SEC during a major data modernization project. My role was to interpret which of the investment products data feeding into a new data warehouse would be most useful for their various mandates (i.e., what could help with rulemaking, identifying violations, market trends research, etc.). The success of this project led to the SEC hiring our firm for several more related projects.My final project was with the risk management group of a trillion dollar asset manager. My job was to identify areas of operational and regulatory risk that the current program did not adequately mitigate and present recommendations about how to efficiently do so, which the client is in the process of implementing.I also spearheaded several business development initiatives, including exploring opportunities in fintech, cybersecurity, and crowdfunding. This work required deep understanding and analysis of the current and potential issues our clients were facing. We gained several new clients as a direct result of these efforts.

As an Analyst, I assisted clients in diverse businesses address regulatory and compliance issues by implementing strategic initiatives. My projects included large banks, information companies, a credit reporting agency, and major retailers.One of my large bank clients ($200 billion in assets) was going through a regulatory crisis after a series of incidents, and several of their compliance personnel were removed. I served as a compliance officer in charge of a specific Federal Reserve banking regulation and had to revamp the program before regulators shut down the bank. This regulation touched every transaction the bank made, so I immersed myself in how it did business in every business line. After implementing new processes and procedures to address the risk I found, the bank aced its next regulatory examination.My largest information and media client had an incident where it suspected an employee had plagiarized a pricing model from a competitor. I was called in to reverse engineer the pricing model for mortgage-backed securities and develop a procedure to determine whether the inputs were legitimately sourced. I then led an international team to review thousands of prices to identify the scope of the issue. Our work helped the client stop the activities and settle the matter privately.

Over a summer working with a team of private wealth managers, I created a model to test the relative performance of the group's portfolio and reallocate accordingly. I also performed equity analysis to recommend new investments.

Over the summer, I worked with the options volatility traders at a proprietary hedge fund. My job was to create and interpret a valuation model to identify investment opportunities and track positions. The firm gave me a parting performance bonus due to the success of my recommendations.
