• Created baseline and post-installation energy measurement & verification plans on $40+ million-dollar energy performance contracts, including long-term trend data from building automation systems, field performance tests, and more detailed short-term monitoring and power measurements. • Utilized and improved upon data processing algorithms for ongoing review of Building Automation & Control systems, including categorization, statistical regression analysis, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and energy savings analysis. • Performed energy audits of building systems, including lighting, heating, water, HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, furnaces, and variable speed drive motors. Maintained good working relationships with customer facility maintenance staff. • Programmed, mapped, and deployed wide variety of measurement and recording equipment to capture all aspects of building occupancy and energy use including temperature, air flow, water flow, steam flow, kilowatt-hours and used data to calibrate building energy use models and predictions.Presented findings to clients directly in support of sales/ project development team. • Evaluated Measurement & Verification plans, financial risk for energy savings guarantees, and justification for federal, state, municipal and energy service performance contract projects on a cost vs. energy savings basis. • Served as qualified staff for 480V electrical measurements, performed hazard assessments, and made improvements to safety training curriculum within the M&V department which was uniquely focused on the hazards of working on live, active, energized equipment. • Supported Sales, Analysis and Engineering departments by developing Excel- based software tools, creating baseline and post- M&V plan methodologies to streamline data collection, accuracy and relevancy, updated statistical sample set protocols for more accurate energy audits.
Systems Engineer
• Planned and wrote operations, maintenance and troubleshooting instructions for assigned fire protection systems on the Space Shuttle Launch Pads and Orbiter Processing Facilities. Systems include automated deluge valves, power regulators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), control and monitoring capabilities (remote and local) and emergency deluge activation stations.• Tested and maintained Launch Sound Suppression System which provides an automated flow of 300,000 gallons of water onto launch pad surface during Space Shuttle main engine ignition.• Supervised teams of electricians in the field to ensure accuracy of work on time-sensitive tasks and minimize impact to Launch Operations schedule.• Proposed a temporary system configuration adding redundant power to Launch Pad sensors to mitigate anomalous GN2 pressure readings on launch-critical Sound Suppression System and made the case to senior technical management as to why it was safe to launch in the temporary configuration. Received approval to make temporary changes permanent after collecting and presenting satisfactory testing and trend data through several dry-runs and 3 launches.• Redesigned an obsolete motorized valve control and power assembly, procured new parts, wrote the installation procedure and supervised a team of technicians through installation and successful testing of new fill valve.• Saved the company $5000 annually by replacing 300 short-life incandescent indicator light bulbs with inexpensive 10-year-life LED bulbs on fire-protection activation stations. Change resulted in reduction of 100 man-hours annually for technicians driving to remote locations all over the Space Center to change bulbs.• Maintained accuracy of system Advanced Electrical Schematics and documentation through field verification and reverse engineering as necessary.
