I've been fascinated by geo-spatial data since my first mapping experience in 1983 that inventoried how a Connecticut town used its coast. As the user of this map I learned that good data are critical and impactful. As the producer, I learned that collaboration accelerates the production of good data. These lessons have continued to be true whether mapping ancestral domains in the Philippines or mapping the State of New York's road network. Over the last five years I've witnessed first-hand the explosion of transportation and mobility-related data. I'm excited about the opportunities for pulling these communities together through collaborative models that balance business priorities and ROI with data privacy concerns and equitable outcomes.
