The quality that stands out most in my interactions with John is his ability to overcome any obstacle in solving a problem or completing a task. If the tool isn't available or doesn't exist, he will make it. If a piece of test equipment is not function properly, he will debug it. In short, I know in any collaboration with John, his part of the task will be completed and his analysis of any problem will be solid. I have always looked forward to the occassions when John's time was allocated to working with our team in debugging a problem or working on a design improvement. He consistently shows a high level of energy and enthusiasm in his work and in working with others. John's 'just get it done' attitude set a great example for everyone on the team, including my self. I would find myself, from time to time, asking, "What would John do?" when faced with a task and only had "stone knives and bearskins" (Star Trek reference) to work with. John's ability to improvise on the spot and think through any problem make him a valuable asset to any team. John was also very strongly customer focused, always looking at how the customers were using our products and providing feedback to the engineering and marketing teams as to what was working well and what needed to be improved. I found such input to be insightful and was able to incorporate it into several of my design modifications of the Pulsar Display.
