John Baker has spent the past 22 years with Thompson Engineering where he was appointed President in 2004. He also serves on the Board of Thompson Engineering and the parent company, Thompson Holdings, Inc., a professional services holding corporation. Prior to 2004, Mr. Baker served as Vice President and was responsible for the overall growth and development of Thompson's marine design and waterfront development group providing construction /project management and engineering design for ports and harbors, commercial and industrial piers & docks, dredged material management, and project permitting. Mr. Baker earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Alabama in 1983. He began his career with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers as a project engineer through 1989, and spent two years with the Alabama State Port Authority through 1991 as the facilities engineer.
