Single-use plastics campaign in 2021 resulted in 40% of the 180 million consumers reached saying they would reduce their use of plastic (~72 million consumers).+ Direct and manage marine protection program strengthening enforcement and community management of marine protected areas in Ecuador, Indonesia, Philippines, Tanzania and other countries. Led planning of new initiatives and organizational development, including a new effort to develop conservation strategies in the context of rapid climate change. Managed all aspects of foundation relations and assisted in major gifts stewardship and solicitation for this conservation science organization with a $10 million annual operating budget and 140 staff. Established and managed all aspects of this regional development organization with programs in women's health, community development, and environmental conservation in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Advised the Government of Laos (Department of Forestry) on integrated conservation and development in the country’s largest protected area (Nakai-Nam Theun) under a World Bank-funded project. Assisted in formulating the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the proposed Nam Theun 2 hydropower project including the establishment of a watershed conservation and development authority and a $25 million trust fund from a portion of electricity revenues. Managed field activities with government staff to establish a protected area management unit and initiate participatory conservation and integrated development activities in the 36 villages within the 4,000 km2 protected area. Trained 16 government staff in participatory conservation, integrated development, and protected area management. Facilitated long-term management planning for the protected area with District, Provincial and National officials.
