Registered Nurse, Step-Down Cardiac Unit
CurrentIn the role, I oversee a caseload of patients experiencing cardiac issues requiring immediate intervention, various assessments, and ongoing therapy. These include atrial fibrillation, angina, and myocardial infarction. I consult with medical professionals and other team members to ensure optimal patient care. I also manage wound vacs and chest tubes, interpret cardiac rhythm strips, and provide post-operative care. Notable Highlights: - Provide compassionate care to patients of varying diagnoses requiring short-term evaluation or surgery/intensive treatment while continually evaluating patient progress.- Optimize patient care by monitoring and evaluating vital signs, recovery progress, and distress signals and responding accordingly. - Ensure patient and staff safety by monitoring medical equipment and devices, managing medication, and utilizing safety protocols, as needed. - Improve communication among family members and caregivers by consulting on individual patient conditions/diagnosis, medication administration, and proposed treatment plans in preparation for discharge.
