I currently am a Senior Advisor to the Mental Health Program at the Carter Center. My major focus is on public policy at the state, regional, and national level, with a particular emphasis on identifying and addressing strategic and tactical opportunities to support the achievement of scale for evidence-based approaches to integrated care. Increasingly our integration efforts here at the Mental Health Program extend beyond the traditional area of primary care-behavioral care integration into such areas as population health management initiatives involving faith-based communities and the fields of health promotion and disease prevention. I also am deeply involved with establishing evidence-based approaches to policy formulation and evaluation, with a special interest in the creation of integrated data systems at the regional and state levels.

The Avisa Group is a highly specialized consulting firm concentrating on policy and management consultation in behavioral healthcare to the senior leadership of governmental and private sector organizations, including private equity firms and other investment groups. As a principal I have lead responsibility on a variety of senior level projects.

My responsibilities included developing and managing all strategic initiatives associated with clinical policies and standards, as well as interfacing with external organizations at the executive/board level, such as NCQA, Joint Commission, the Democratic Leadership Council, professional organizations, etc.
