After working at Valley Irrigation as a consultant for a year, I joined the team as a full-time employee in 2019. In the scrum master role, I educate the business and technical community on Agile and Scrum principles. The development teams I serve developed a commercial software product used by growers around the world to irrigate their crops. The product was released to the market in March 2020. Since then, I’ve helped the organization transition from a Project Team to a Product Team.While I perform the activities one would expect of a scrum master, I also coach a Product Ownership team (Business Analysts, UX Designer, and Deliver Lead) in Product Backlog management, writing user stories, and focusing on outcomes over outputs.

I rejoined ProKarma to help with a bid on a contract for service with a new client. During this project I shared domain knowledge with the internal team and served as Business Analyst and Product Owner for development of demonstration software for the prospective client.After ProKarma won the contract, I worked as a consultant at two of their clients. At the InEight engagement I developed and refined product backlog items and created artifacts for Product Owners. My subsequent engagement was with Valley Irrigation. Shortly after my start as a Business Analyst, I was asked to take on the Scrum Master job for a team developing a new commercial software product.

As a TEKsystems consultant I simultaneously performed the project manager and business analyst roles for projects assigned to me at an insurance client. I collaborated with stakeholders to understand the product vision and to elicit, refine, and prioritize product features for system enhancements that gave insurance underwriters a better understanding of potential risks. Initiatives I managed included integrating a vendor’s API with the company’s underwriting application, and designing new workflows and user interface changes to integrate a partner’s service into the company’s online application submission process.

For this consulting engagement I was Lead Business Analyst for three Scrum teams re-writing applications used by Customer Service Representatives in a bank’s call centers. My work activities included reverse engineering existing application functionality and business rules, writing user stories and use cases, developing wireframes, defining acceptance criteria and test plans, and performing QA testing.

At this engagement I paired with a consultant at another of the client’s offices in conducting a gap analysis of existing software requirements practices in the client’s Financial Services division. We interviewed software development teams and stakeholders and analyzed existing process artifacts. I developed materials and delivered training for software developers to engage with stakeholders and elicit requirements.

At ProKarma, I conducted business analysis work and scrum master for distributed scrum teams (U.S. and India) that developed the Intermodal Transportation Operating System at a Class A Railroad. The new software required new hardware to run in intermodal terminals. I was Project Manager for the design and implementation of Wi-Fi and vehicle mounted computer infrastructure at those terminals.

While at NNG I was a business analyst for a program of legacy system replacement projects using a Scrum approach. I modeled business processes, business rules, and decision logic. Led a team conducting a gap analysis for new service offerings.

Collaborated with clients’ business analysts to implement new blocks of their business. Full-time project team member for COTS implementation and data conversion project. Communicated system enhancement requirements to software developers. Tested data conversion processes, software fixes and enhancements.

I served in several project roles from 1993 to 2003 including business analyst and project manager. Business and technology initiatives ranged from small system or process enhancements to multi-million dollar enterprise-level projects. Prior to this, I held a leadership role in the claims department.
