I have recently completed the degree of PhD - my thesis was "Estimating field-scale soil moisture using SAR remote sensing and the COSMOS-UK network" which sought to establish a field-scale soil moisture measurement capability using SAR remote sensing and the COSMOS-UK network. My studentship was part of the STARS CDT. I am currently a Research Fellow at Cranfield University where I have conducted research into remote sensing to support river geomorphology studies and am currently a member of the NERC "Constructing a Digital Environment" team. https://digitalenvironment.org/ I have particular interests in the transport, rail, automotive, and geo-information sectors and remote sensing applied to land use and agriculture. Good communicator who thrives on new challenges and problem solving.I have over 20 years experience in applied research and project management. With a background in physics, I have previous experience in infrared, electro-optic and millimetre wave sensors and their test and evaluation in the laboratory and the field. In addition to my recently awarded PhD, I have a Masters in Geographical Information Systems from Cranfield University, and have extensive experience in remote sensing, image processing and GIS applications (ERDAS Imagine, ArcGIS).Previously Principal Project Manager at QinetiQ with extensive experience bidding for and managing complex research and development projects. I also spent several years as an innovation Intermediary at IXC UK Ltd, and have undertaken consultancy work for the Rail Alliance in innovation in the SME supply sector.Outside work I am currently a committee member of the West Midlands Branch of the Institute of Physics and it's Hereford & Worcester Centre. I am also a Trustee of the Worcester Heritage and Amenity Trust, which runs the Tudor House Museum in Worcester.
