Sr Software Engineer

Part of a combined Kuvera / State IT effort to migrate the department towards eGovernment. Participated in three concurrent Forté development efforts, while mentoring and monitoring other Forté developers, Informix DBAs, and IT managers. Integrated the Secretary of State’s web site with their existing Informix database applications, allowing for inquiry and filing of documents on the Web.Created a Forté service to integrate, encrypt and process credit card transactions via a secured server, allowing corporations to electronically pay for and file reports over the Web. Prior to this, corporations would have to send a representative to the Secretary of State’s office and file in person, costing both the corporation and the staff of the Secretary of State.Created Forté image conversion and creation services to retrieve, create, and serve images to the Web. Source images were scanned as TIFF documents and served up as GIF images or multi-page PDF documents. In some cases where the requested document was stored textually (not as a scanned image), the information would be retrieved and the requested image dynamically created. This was designed to create a consistent interface to the user as well as facilitate reuse of components. Image conversion and creation was performed through an API to external image libraries. Designed and built a framework that allows unsophisticated developers to rapidly create dynamic Web pages using Forté Web Enterprise. The combined team deployed three releases under budget and ahead of schedule.
