My name is John Benson and I am the owner of the company JOHN BENSON LTD.My main business and experience is within the driving instruction industry which I entered into in 1987 when I started work with the British School of Motoring as a driving instructor. After 6 years with BSM ending as a manager at its Bishops Stortford branch I launched Benson School of Motoring on the 1st October 1993 initially trading from my home in Braintree. In 1999 we purchased a half acre piece of land and moved to Long Green, Braintree where we traded until early 2014. In December 2013 we purchased a Braintree town centre shop front & opened up in May 2014. The larger part of the same building we converted to two 2-bedroom apartments & 1 studio apartment now rented to tenantsBenson School of Motoring covers all of East Anglia and parts of North & East London and has more than 150 instructors.Part of John Benson Ltd is the property rental company JOHN BENSON RENTAL with about 60 properties. Another part of the company is THE BENSON BAR & DINER in Bradford Street, Braintree (now closed) purchased in 2009. Originally we purchased two properties & traded as the Benson Bar and Hotel & In 2010 the hotel was awarded a four star rating & was winner of channel four TV's Four-In-A-Bed. In 2013 we closed down the hotel and converted to four apartments & the bar was rebranded as a 1950's/1960’s Motor Themed Bar with a restaurant and large wedding & party function suite for up to 130 people. In 2017 we closed the bar and commenced its conversion to residential properties including X3 one bedroom apartments and one three bedroom home completed in December 2018.When we moved to 1 Bocking End, Braintree in May 2014 a container storage business was developed at Long Green (BENSON STORAGE) where now about 25 storage units are sited. Also on the same site is 4 self-contained offices leased by small businesses. BENSON MOTORCYCLE TRAINING continues to trade from this site too. In 2019 we bought some land at Halsteads Bluebridge Industrial Estate and developed and placed a further 13 storage .units.
