Senior Linux/UNIX Engineer and Team Lead for the DVA Veterans Health Administration Linux Team (8-10 FTE). Manage day-to-day DHA Linux Datacenter Operations; Lead, educate/train, mentor, recruit, assign, and manage DHA Linux staff; Design, engineer, deploy, test, and implement DHA Linux server builds per DVA Linux Standards; scan for NSA/NIST security and/or policy breaches, identify and track exceptions, provide management remediation responses; provide escalation to L1 and L2 support; provide technical guidance and updated documentation for current DVA Linux standards, processes, procedures, and best-practices; analyze, troubleshoot, and apply critical thinking to identified issues, and track and solve problems; deliver best-in-class solutions to DVA customers; analyze, review, and approve proposed/candidate system architectures and designs; manage, schedule, and implement Linux OS and firmware patching based on DVA and NSA/NIST policies and guidelines -- i,e., quarterly patching of Linux-based systems; provide weekly performance summaries to Senior DVA Managers; deploy enterprise tools to manage and integrate over 7000 Linux/Unix hosts across multiple DHA sites -- i.e., Austin DVA DC, VA hospitals and clinics, DHA Call Centers, and the like; primary interface and tech lead for integrated and interconnected DVA DHA and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) systems; technical lead for Linux/Unix system automation team; interface with DHA project management, application development, and DBA staff to plan out, schedule, coordinate implementation details and allocate DHA Linux staffing; technical lead to rollout DVA enterprise-wide AD/Red Hat Identity Management toolset across all DVA Linux/Unix systems; attend to server configuration management (CMDB) using orchestration tools (Puppet); Support Senior

Senior Unix Solaris and Linux Systems Engineer responsible for Senior Linux Engineer and Technical Lead for the Texas TEARS Unix/Linux team. Provide technical knowledge, expertise, and direction to Texas Health and Human Services Commission TEARS Unix and Linux staff; educate/train, mentor, recruit, assign, and oversee TEARS Unix and System Operations staff; Design, engineer, deploy, test, and implement Solaris server builds per HHSC Unix Standards; scan for NSA/NIST security and/or policy violations and potential breaches, identify and track exceptions, provide management remediation responses; provide escalation to L1 Operations and L2 Unix support; provide technical guidance and updated documentation for current HHSC Unix standards, processes, procedures, and best-practices; analyze, troubleshoot, and apply critical thinking to identified issues, and track and solve problems; deliver best-in-class solutions to HHSC customers; analyze/review/coordinate Change Management Processes, candidate system architectures/designs; provide instructions/guidance for TEARS system operations staff to implement any changes based on HHSC and NSA/NIST policies and guidelines -- i,e., quarterly patching of Solaris-based systems; provide weekly performance summaries to Senior TEARS Managers; attend to server configuration management (CMDB) using orchestration tools (Puppet); Support Senior Management; and other duties as assigned.
