Named as second author on a Peer Reviewed Publication "Evolution of the Randomized Controlled Trial in the Era of Precision Oncology"(JAMA Oncology, 2021. With clinicians and researchers at Queen's University, the objective was to describe and analyze contemporary trends in oncology RCTs, addressing emerging concerns related to putative surrogate endpoints like progression-free survival (PFS) and marginal effect sizes. By conducting a retrospective cohort study, we aimed to provide valuable insights into the evolution of RCT design and output over the years. We analyzed data on RCT design, funding sources, results, and reporting from 1000+ individual publications. This approach allowed for a nuanced comparison of trends within the specified timeframe (2010-2020) against earlier periods (1995-2004 and 2005-2009), providing a holistic view of the landscape.
