I started my first career as an Apprentice toolmaker, there I learned how to machine blocks and bars into Press tools while achieving the fine tolerances required. During my time I found I had a greater passion for designing rather than machining. That is when I started to use and learn AutoCAD, and the challenge of turning a clear, black computer screen into a press tool design. I loved it and applied for a full time drafting Job.T & S Bates Pty Ltd is the company where I learned to become an efficient and productive Draftsperson. I have Terry to thank for giving me the opportunity to work on many amazing projects. I developed a speed to detail parts there, I enjoyed taking a finished Assembled design and detailing each piece with 3 views to Australian Standards. During this time I completed several TAFE courses to get my Mechanical Engineering Diploma, and also compete in Worldskills to achieve a 1st in NSW and 2nd in Australia for CAD Mechanical. After 5 years at T & S Bates I chose to work in Muswellbrook at Kelmech Engineering (Later became Resco). I worked on large mining equipment and experienced a lot of mine site measuring and liaising with boilermakers on the shop floor. This was great as I was able to see the design come to life, which gave me a huge sense of achievement and satisfaction.1 year later I decided to come back to Sydney and became a contract draftsman at T & S Bates again, which subsequently gave me more drafting confidence to start my own business. I started BES drafting services from the second bedroom of my unit working long into the night. We now have a fully renovated office in Wollongong, NSW and am still working long into the night!My vision has always been to provide an exceptional complete Drafting service, this includes accurate drawings to Australian standards, clear and easy to understand detailed drawings, great communication with the client, and a competitive hourly rate.The customer is always right!
