After 12 years with Serco and after leading three extremely complex prison briefs (including two large busy town centre Local prisons) delivering transformation, service improvement and innovation, I have decided to leave the organisation to look for a new challenge in an organisation who’s values better align with my own. I have, I believe over the years been Serco’s most successful prison Director. I was certainly their most senior and experienced. I took HMP Lowdham Grange to High Performing Prison Status, Serco’s first prison to achieve this. I took HMP Doncaster through successful rebid, designed and delivered the worlds first prison to be run an an exclusively payment by results basis, delivering a through the gate model for managing short term prisoners that underpins the model for Transforming Rehabilitation. Whilst at HMP Thameside I took a prison regarded as a significant operational and reputational risk to both Serco and the MOJ to one that in his last inspection HMIP stated that the transformation was “truly remarkable”.I have vision, determination and considerable knowledge and experience and what I am now looking for is an opportunity to further develop these in a different organisation. In all aspects of my role I am required to demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and independence and these are absolutely a part of my personal value set. I am a deeply ethical leader and care greatly about those whom both work for and with me, as well as those who fall within my care. I behave in a way that is consistent with my personal values at all times and insist that those who exercise authority in my name do the same.In summary, I have a real desire to share my significant transferable skills and knowledge gained over a long and successful career within complex and challenging operations. Contract Operations Director. Responsible for taking HMP Thameside forward and delivering operational excellence as well as taking Thameside out of transition and into transformation in the face of the Government’s Transforming Rehabilitation agenda. Transformed performance both in terms of operations, but also culture and staff and prisoner engagement. Thameside is now regarded as one of the best prisons in the capital.

Contract Director. Charged with leading the prison through contract rebid and driving up performance, profile and staff engagement through effective implementation of change management processes.Led the prison in regaining Level 3 Performance within less than 12 months of being reduced to Level 2 and outside of the two year notional timescale for re-assessment. Delivered audit scores which placed Doncaster within the top Local Prisons in the country and through implementation of a Zero Tolerance approach reduced violence levels to the lowest they had been since the prison opened in 1997. In October 2012 Serco were awarded a 15 year operating contract for HMP Doncaster and it was the first prison in the world to operate a fully scaled payment by results model. Results in July 2014 have now affirmed success against this measure.
