About John Boardman

The Perth Glory Football Club is Western Australia’s representative team in the National Hyundai A‐League football competition which is Australia's pre‐eminent professional soccer (football) league. The competition comprises 10 teams with representation from the states of QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA. The club also has a team competing in the National Youth League also. Perth Glory Football Club re‐established itself as one the competitions power clubs with a record breaking 2012 season. Celebrating the clubs 15th year anniversary, Perth Glory won three sudden death finals games (including an inaugural A‐ League home final) before a heartbreaking and controversial 2‐1 Grand Final loss to Brisbane Roar in front of 50,000 fans at a packed Suncorp Stadium. Perth Glory may have been denied the championship, but its rise as a football power in Australia was confirmed. In Season 2012/13 Perth Glory made the A‐League finals for the third time in four years but unfortunately suffered yet another heartbreaking 2‐1 finals loss in extra time. Perth had led 1‐0 and had a penalty chance in the 88 th minute only to miss and then concede a penalty and have a player controversially sent off only seconds later. The club has an ever growing community focus whilst aspiring to ultimately compete in and win the lucrative Asian Champions league in addition to the national league. We are the oldest club in the Hyundai A‐League with a 16yr history
