    Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States
I am helping to design an inductively driven in-vessel coil to prevent the build-up of high energy runaway electrons during a tokamak disruption. My work focuses on hardware aspects of the coil such as the implementation of fast switching of the coil and electrical insulation of the coil from the surrounding components.
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory
    Posdoc Research Associate
Los Alamos National Laboratory Aug 2019 - Jan 2023
    Los Alamos
I built a new Field Reversed Configuration experiment that is capable producing FRC plasmas in new high density and magnetic flux trapping regimes. This involved developing new high-voltage (80 kV) pulsed power switching and triggering hardware and taking part in all aspects of setting up a new experimental lab.
  • University Of Wisconsin-Madison
    Phd Candidate
    University Of Wisconsin-Madison Sep 2014 - Aug 2019
    Madison, Wi
I characterize the properties of a self-organized helical equilibrium in reversed field pinch plasmas on the Madison Symmetric Torus. My work includes:-- Using charge exchange recombination spectroscopy to characterize the 3D structure of the ion velocity profile.-- Maintaining and improving the CHERS processing and modelling code in python.-- Working with the rest of MST’s diagnostic team to characterize helical plasmas using far infrared interferometry and polarimetry, Thomson scattering, and soft x-ray tomography.-- Using a suite diagnostic data to reconstruct helical magnetic equilibrium using the V3FIT-VMEC code.-- Mentoring an undergraduate student in a project to introduce neutron/gamma pulse shape discrimination to a collimated neutron detector for 10x improvement in neutron detection.
  • University Of Wisconsin-Madison
    Graduate Research Assistant
    University Of Wisconsin-Madison Jan 2014 - Aug 2014
Worked with Prof. Jan Egedal to developed MATLAB tools to analyze CLUSTER spacecraft data to verify and expand on magnetic reconnection theory pertaining to Earth's magnetotail
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory
    Graduate Student Researcher
Los Alamos National Laboratory Jun 2013 - Aug 2013
    Los Alamos, Nm
I worked on Magnetized Shock Experiment, Field Reversed Configuration experiment designed accelerate FRCs towards a magnetic end cap to study magnetized shocks at high Mach numbers. My work included:--Established a sub microsecond fast framing camera for imaging FRC formation and convergence--Refurbished a visible light array for measuring linear velocities of the FRC--Optimization of the vacuum system
  • Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory
    Suli Intern
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory Jun 2011 - Aug 2011
    Princeton, Nj
Designed and carried out experiments investigating the production of medical isotope Molybdenum-99 via neutron activation of Molydenum-98. I also used MCNP to perform feasibility analysis for small scale, on-sight Molydenum-99 production.
  • Purdue University
    Undergraduate Researcher
    Purdue University Jun 2009 - May 2011
    West Lafayette, In
Worked on the development of a novel radiation detector utilizing the properties of graphene in a field effect transistor. Duties consisted of:-MCNP modeling radiation interactions within a prototype device and assisting with experiments of prototypes devices-COMSOL multiphysics modeling of a prototype device-assist with production and testing of prototypes devices
