A native Houstonian born in 1960, I grew up doing woodworking in a woodshed in the backyard of the house in Spring Branch. My hobbies as a teenager were varied, from Scouts, gardening, soccer and singing in the church choir. My most enjoyable studies included industrial drafting and working with my hands. Looking back, I realize now that my passion was to work in the Design and Fabrication field.I attended UT Austin where I found my path with a Degree in Journalism. That year, I earned an internship with a oilfield photographer, shooting cover shots for Oil and Gas Journal. I graduated and began my career in the commercial graphics industry.In the 80’s I formed a company called Photo Display and Design and worked for 3 years until I realized that I was under-capitalized. I truly believe success and achievement doesn’t occur without experiencing failure. In 1996, I Purchased Terry Productions which served the corporate market producing financial and marketing presentations. After technology shifted the skills of our market to our clientele, I retooled my company to a custom fabrication and graphics firm, specializing in Corporate Interiors, Trade Shows, Signage and Displays. In 2015, I rebranded Terry Productions into Sparq1200, taking an idea from our client into the final polish, which the new name represents. My team of artisans and project managers have fulfilled my dream of serving the industry with creativity and passion, solving complex construction and installation problems for Architects and Designers.Today, I split my personal time between Houston and Round Top, where my wife and I have a small place we call Heaven.
