- Worked on the Storage, Network, and Compliance team to write an application that performs fast replication for three platforms (IBM Flash Copy, EMC Symmetrix, and Hitachi Shadow Image), dynamically depending upon the state of the caller.

Principal developer and customer support person for the TimeFinder/Mirror application, which performed local replication of EMC Symmetrix data storage devices. - Prevented costly customer application failures during peak production hours, by serializing access to Common Storage data chains from EMC replication programs.- Eliminated tedious manual recovery by adding code that automatically detected and terminated incomplete device replications.- Satisfied customers’ need to do backup and recovery at greater distances by adding code that allowed consistent Symmetrix device replication to be performed from two devices away from the source.

Wrote new features and provided customer support for the Strobe performance measurement software.- Enabled Session Managers to communicate and coordinate Strobe events across multiple LPARs by designing and coding major portions of the Strobe Multi-system Session Manager project.- Acted as technical lead on the AutoStrobe project, which enables a Strobe address space to monitor CICS address spaces, automatically initiating Strobe measurements when specific performance thresholds are exceeded.- Expanded the range of file types identified by adding Strobe support for miscellaneous IOS drivers.- Retooled Session Manager for Y2K. The project included support for international date and time formats. These date processing changes allowed the application to go through the year 2000 without a single problem.

Developed and maintained the Model 204 database management software. - Designed and coded an IOS Branch Entry driver to perform Model 204 database I/O. This change alone reduced the database I/O response time by 50%.- Moved Model 204 database buffers and servers above the 16M line, by converting the application assembler code from 24-bit to 31-bit mode.- Converted Fujitsu and Hitachi channel programs to perform Model 204 database I/O on Japanese systems.
