I had hands-on responsibility for architecture and development on many different projects.I was focused on leading new projects relying heavily on Azure that involves microservices architecture utilizing Dotnet Core, Linux, Docker/Kubernetes (AKS Azure), Cosmos DB, EventHub, API Management, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and many others. Other projects in my portfolio had a strong cloud footprint that is mostly in Azure along with an on-premises footprint of services and apps which are also accessible from Azure through our VPN connections.We utilized many aspects of Azure to support our application and development needs, including Azure Active Directory and OAuth authentication, Traffic Manager, Application Gateway / Web Application Firewall, VPN Gateway, Private VNets, Application Service Environment, Service Fabric, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Classic Cloud Apps, Web Apps, API Apps, Logic Apps, Azure Container Services, Internal Load Balancers, Redis Cache, Visual Studio Team Serivces (VSTS) for Code and DevOps CI/CD, and Application Insights. The footprint will only continue to grow as Azure provides new solutions on a continuous basis.We also focused on providing DevOps strategies in our environment. We utilize Azure DevOps (formerly known as VSTS/Visual Studio Team Services) for our DevOps pipeline to provide visibility including intake, development, secure code scanning, and CI / CD.

Consulted as Lead Developer/Architect on several BPEL and ESB services in the Oracle SOA Suite Environment.

Responsible for all aspects of technology for two websites and supporting data compilation and delivery services. These aspects include large database compilation, fast database search delivery, web application development and support, and API development and support.All production environments are hosted in the Amazon cloud offering. Several pieces of the Amazon cloud are in use, including EC2 (Windows\Linux based on Elastic Block Storage), Elastic Beanstalk, ElastiCache, and RDS.Immediately challenged upon taking this position with increasing performance on data searches across hundreds of millions of records. Personally implemented a new search technology framework based on Apache Solr and Apache Lucene, along with a new RESTful API based on JBOSS RestEasy, and memcached/Membase. The framework runs within the Amazon cloud taking advantage of its elastic capabilities to grow and shrink as traffic demands change on the API. The solution was very successful in a short amount of time and is being looked at for use within other products within the organization.

Hands-on technical team lead for installation and implementation of the Oracle SOA Suite 11g platform in 5 highly available and clustered environments. In addition to the SOA Suite products (Oracle BPEL Process Manager, Oracle Business Activity Monitoring, Oracle Business Rules, Oracle Service Bus, Oracle ESB), SOA Governance 11g (Oracle Enterprise Manager and Service registry) was also installed to help with implementation of SOA Governance in the infoGroup Enterprise.In addition to the SOA Suite, Oracle IDM is also a key part of this environment. Several pieces of Oracle IDM have been put into use, including OID (Oracle Internet Directory) and OVD (Oracle Virtual Directory) to handle security and virtualization of user accounts for the SOA Suite.

Responsible for development and management of a staff of 27 people for several projects which included CD-ROM based Windows applications, web services, mapping API, and physical book (PDF) projects.The web sites were all 3-tier, highly available applications. The various web sites were developed in Microsoft ASP.Net, with a middle-ware tier (written in C++), and SQL Server back-end.The mapping API was a mash-up of a Javascript (JS) API (JSON) and the Google Mapping API. The mapping API allows for many different functionalities, including free drawing of polygons to define search regions, selection of search criteria by geographical layers (MSA, State, Zip code), selection of search criteria by drive-route, mapping of results by area using thematic maps, mapping of results by point with pop-ups (showing information, links, photos).Web service projects included several SOAP based services which were consumed by several internal web sites. These services ranged from small email delivery services and document print services to large free-text search and email campaign management services. These services were built with both Microsoft ASMX and WCF development technologies.The CD-ROM applications and book projects were primarily maintenance projects. Various older technologies were involved to support them. The technologies included Borland Delphi, Pervasive DB, Oracle DB, PLSQL, Java, and hundreds of supporting scripts to build the monthly databases to feed the products.
