About John Brown

Previously at AstraZeneca as an Associate Director in Precision Medicine and Biosamples. Focussed on using my experience in immunohistochemistry, digital pathology and histopathology to help develop patient treatments. Also worked on companion diagnostics for phase 3 clinical trials including IVDR submissions. Past role as a Project Manager responsible for the implementation of a Digital Pathology solution in Histopathology at Cambridge University Hospitals. I have an interest in combining digital pathology with AI to improve patient treatments in conjunction with companion diagnostics. I believe that a multidisciplinary approach collaborating with health services, pharmaceuticals, image product specialists and AI/IT is required to enhance current patient outcomes.Experience learned as the manager of a large histopathology department with over one hundred technical/scientific staff and forty plus consultant pathologists. My main objectives are focussed on improving healthcare through management of those involved with tissue studies using histology and a variety of molecular techniques. Working in histological services within the NHS I was engaged in the modernisation and enhancement of the diagnostic service. Pathology experience focussed on lymphoma, urological and breast cancer models using immunohistochemistry. I have experience with a large number of histological and molecular testing modalities. I have studied DNA and RNA techniques in tissue samples. I enjoy lecturing and have managed a number of teams from clinical, technical and academic backgrounds.
