I am the Manufacturing Production Supervisor on third shift. I have thirty eight direct reports. I schedule the necessary hours to complete orders to maintain a 100% OTD, while upholding the company's zero defect quality standards. I oversee the daily operations on third shift which include, employee reviews, discipline, termination, mentoring, 5S, lean principles, continuous improvement.

As a consultant for Trool my primary job description was to go into different west Michigan automotive businesses that supplied the "Big 3" as an experienced professional in the metal stamping business and find the inefficiencies in the daily production flow of their business. I would usually spend a week at a particular company going through the various processes, evaluating cycle times on presses, change over times, lack of proficient execution and inefficient movement (wasted steps). At the end of the week I would give a power point presentation to a group of management at the given facilities demonstrating the areas of prominent gains through quantitative data and short video clips taken while their staff performed various tasks related to their own admitted faults and areas where improvements needed to be made.I would summarize by giving detailed examples of jobs/ change overs that had run while I was present and show the areas that could most be improved upon, or on certain jobs how properly programming a transfer system to utilize corner round could gain them 5 strokes per minutes while decreasing the strain on a transfer system. I averaged a 35-50% increase in productivity when the Company who acquired our services implemented the plan laid out before them. Through experience and a foundation of Metal Stamping professionals it was a valued way to increase my knowledge, pursue continued growth, while subsidizing my income while I went to college.

I set up all the new jobs in the transfer press, Gudel 3 axis system. This would require fabrication of the transfer bars, finger, and programming. Which in between new jobs I was responsible for improving the production process through modifying the programs for all jobs, through adjusting limit switches, press speed to maximize efficiency.

As a Manufacturing Tech, my job to to meet with the engineers and work closely with them on every process to improve efficiency and quality. This was a broad area from machine cycle times, to lean manufacturing, ergonomics, and 5S. Implementing new strategies, training the employes on new strategies, and following through on the complete initializing and completion of the the new system.In addition to the Manufacturing Technician job, I also served as the Transfer Technician which was responsible for the implementation of all new jobs from PPAP, prove out, to full production. This would include applying all the necessary die protection/ sensors, meeting with the tooling engineers to improve die design to better accommodate and maximize the efficiency of the transfer. Full fabrication of the transfer finger/ rail system and programming the transfer data into a program.
