I have over thirty years experience in the field of mechanical design and drafting including over 12 years in the aerospace industry. I am well versed in designing parts and assemblies using a variety of production and manufacturing techniquesI possess a great deal of experience with many CAD packages and applications including; Auto-Cad versions 9 through 14, Auto-Cad Mechanical Desktop, Pro-e Wildfire and AutoDesk’s Inventor series and am currently working with Creo in a Windchill environment.

I designed all mechanical aspects of an underwater fiber based laser communication system consisting of a submersible transmitter and a separately housed receiver. I also worked closely with optical engineers in developing mechanical concepts for aircraft mounted Wind LIDAR. I developed mechanical data package and assisted in building a bench/brass board level LIDAR demonstrator. I designed mechanicals for lab demonstration of a high power fiber optic laser system. I designed and packaged a rack mountable multichannel fiber optic power amplifier. I generated complex mechanical models using PRO-E Wildfire and generated many conceptual drawings and power point presentations for use in proposal submittals and technical reports.

I designed various pieces of surveillance equipment for use by law enforcement agencies.I also designed many deployable mechanisms for spacecraft under contract to the Navel Research Laboratories. I worked independently on many QRC (quick response contracts) for various government agencies and functioned as Lead Design Engineer on a production level contract. Responsibilities as Lead Designer included; designing and documenting spacecraft structure and program specific items; keeping up to date layout of entire spacecraft including parts lists and drawing trees; and interviewing and hiring drafts-people.I also designed and documented many electronic housings intended for space flight (card cages, etc.). I designed many complex mechanical systems including deployable solar arrays and spacecraft separation systems. I designed two motor driven gimbal systems using composite graphite materials. Created many complex spacecraft models for contract awarded studies and proposals using Excel, Mechanical Desktop and Pro-e. I also functioned as the department Checker for over a year. Responsibilities included checking drawings per Orbital’s ISO9000.
