John served as Director of Government Relations for The American Heart Association in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. In this position John worked with state health departments, the state hospital association, local emergency medical and hospital/health systems to promote state-wide heart and stroke systems of care. John has more than 30 years of public policy, health and communications experience with such well-known national organizations as Goodwill Industries International, The American Heart Association, The National Association of Realtors, Porter Novelli Public Relations and The University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.

As a member of the senior leadership team, John developed public affairs strategy and staff to advance and exceed mission goals. He led the Marketing, Public Relations, Advocacy and Government Relations, Publications, and New Media departments. During my tenure at (GII), he was responsible for the establishment of GII's Washington Office, and its first-ever "Advocacy Day," on Capital Hill, its first Crisis Communications Plan, and expanded the Marketing, Public Relations,and Government Relations Departments
