Throughout my career, I have helped clients navigate the treacherous waters of disputes and litigation. My overarching philosophy is to help clients achieve their goals in the most cost effective manner possible. I help them understand the risks and manage the costs of litigation, while understanding the clients' business goals. Over these years, I have assisted clients with a board range of matters.I’ve joined LinkedIn to exchange ideas and information to better serve both my firm and clients.   I have been a commercial litigation and trial lawyer with Ryley Carlock & Applewhite my entire career. I have been lead counsel in 100s of cases. In recent years, I have enjoyed leading the firm’s eDiscovery and managed review practice. Some of my fondest cases through time are:- bringing suit against a state engineer and assistant state engineer in federal court for violations of substantive and procedural due process. We settled the cases after depositions of many state employees. The settlement was extremely favorable to the client worth tens of millions of dollars.- representing an irrigation district that leased part of a lake to a lessee who built and operated a marina on the lake. At the end of the lease term, the district decided to purchase the lessee's interest in the marina. A dispute arose over the calculation of the purchase price. We were able to reach a settlement saving the district $10 million from the first calculation.- obtaining a jury verdict of $1,800,000 in a condemnation matter for a property owner where the state offered $20,000.- obtaining from the Arizona Court of Appeals the reversal of a probate court's barring a creditor's claim seeking reimbursement of $140,000,000 against a decedent's estate for violating a royalty agreement.-obtaining reversal from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals a court judgment of over a million dollars, including an award of punitive damages, for pumping groundwater that allegedly destroyed a farmer's pecan orchard based on the doctrine of reasonable use.
