As Managing Director of Credit Review at VBC, I assist financial institutions in the management of credit risk, the chief risk an institution faces. This involves the evaluation of risk at the asset-level as well as the concentration of risk across the portfolio, with an understanding of economic and financial factors. Additionally, with my experience as a credit analyst developing credit risk models, I am engaged in model validation and CECL. My training in credit risk is derived from twelve years serving as Director of Municipal Credit Analytics and then Managing Partner at Seifried & Brew, LLC, a community bank consulting firm specializing in risk management,. We joined with VBC in 2023, where my experience expanded to loan review and model validation. I am also involved in climate risk management services and understanding how climate risk impacts credit.I studied environmental science and economics at the University of North Carolina in Asheville. As an undergraduate I had a strong involvement in sustainability and community solutions to sustainable development. I was introduced to the triple bottom line approach to sustainability: environmental, social, and economic. In my professional career, I have learned about the economic component of sustainability. Local institutions like community banks and municipalities form the bedrock and resilience of the United States economy.I am a husband and father of three.
