An expert in multinational operations, strategic planning, and talent management, Casey Welch recently retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel with over two decades of service as an infantry officer. Perpetually curious and excited to explore creative approaches for better organizational leadership and innovative problem-solving, he understands that moving an organization forward requires a solid understanding of its operating environment and inspired engagement of its people. Casey has served on executive staffs at the highest levels of the US Army and NATO, commanded an infantry battalion in combat, and served as a senior coach and observer at two of the US Army’s premier Combat Training Centers. He also gained a deep understanding of executive assessment approaches and cutting-edge talent management initiatives with the US Army’s Talent Management Task Force, where he served as a strategic planner for the Command Assessment Program (CAP). In the field of talent management, Casey helped to integrate best practices drawn from academic, business, and military sources to solidify the US Army’s transition from an industrial-age executive leader selection system to a data rich, information-age assessment process for senior commanders and key executive leaders. In addition to serving as a lead planner structure and integration, he also served as the director’s initiative lead during assessment execution in 2020 and 2021. As an executive coach, trainer, and advisor Casey has extensive experience helping senior leaders and their staffs orient on realistic goals and approaches that result in measurable organizational growth, effectiveness, and cohesion. He was instrumental in the design, execution, and support of over 30 immersive brigade-level training exercises, 18 of which he served as the Brigade Senior Trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany. As an executive coach, he provided an empathic, professional approach that helped numerous Brigade Commanders across Europe refine their vision for organizational success, critical performance metrics, and positive leadership culture. From the staff perspective, Casey is also experienced in the art of building inclusive, federated teams of that are confident in their ability to develop internal assessment frameworks and multi-discipline pathways to success.
