I was part of the Electro-Acoustics team within the UK Acoustics Group. We provided complementary architectural acoustics and audio design, specification and testing so that the sound systems and the acoustic of the space work in harmony to deliver high quality, successful solutions. The Acoustics Group undertakes independent building acoustics, environmental and architectural acoustic engineering appointments as well as providing in-house expertise on all noise and vibration issues to the building engineering and transportation divisions of the company. We are able to assist with advice on all aspects of any Audio or Audio Visual project including system design, tender preparation and evaluation, overseeing and managing the installation and commissioning works, to providing advice on ongoing maintenance requirements. After leaving school after taking O levels in 1982 I worked at Romers Electronics Limited, starting in 1982 as an apprentice and following a restructure in 1992 I became the company’s Managing Director. Established in 1925 in Rishton near Blackburn and originally named Romers of Rishton, we have installed any type of commercial sound system and since 1992 CCTV systems. Until the reorganization of the company in 1992 the company restricted the work that it carried out to set geographical and technical areas but from then I oversaw the development to include new areas of work and transformed the company into a nationwide leading company which specialised in Sports Stadia Sound Systems. We installed Sound and CCTV systems in over 25 major Stadia around the country including Liverpool FC, Everton FC, Blackburn Rovers FC, Bolton Wanderers FC, Newcastle United TC and The City of Manchester Stadium for the Commonwealth Games in 2002. In addition to this sector I have experience in many other areas of work including Health by working in many hospitals and more recently LIFT and PFI projects, Churches and Cathedrals, Education, Hospitality and factory “tannoy” systems. We were involved with the installation of the CCTV systems in Blackburn and Darwen Town Centers. In addition I have recently been involved with AV systems, Disabled Refuge and Induction Loop systems too. Within all the above projects I was involved in the initial sales and design leading to project management, ensuring that they were carried out on time and within budget.When I took over in 1992 the turnover was around £150K and we peaked at over £2M
