CurrentI head the firm's Edinburgh office comprising a team of 7 solicitors. We handle exclusively Litigation and Dispute Resolution work across Scotland including the Scottish superior court - the Court of Sesson. Gained extended rights of audience (solicitor advocate) 2008. Our firm has four Scottish offices three of which (Edinburgh,Aberdeen and Inverness) handle Litigation work.My principal areas of work are ;Insurance including liability claims, policy advice and disputes, fraudulent claims, property damage including large loss and subrogation /recovery claims for insurers, Environmental Law. RecentIy handled a large commercial loss recovery worth circa £9m (action successful after trial.) I handle casualty and property damage claims for insurers, claims handlers and Local Authorities including one of Scotland's largest. I deal with Public Law issues for Local Authorities including advising on and defending Judicial Review challenges. I also deal with commercial litigation for Local Authorities and commercial organisations such as litigation to enforce Performance Bonds. I recently acted in a high profile Director Disqualification case on behalf of the Insolvency Service ( instructed by Bond Dickinson) in which the respondent was given the maximum period of disqualification. I act on a referral basis for a UK newspaper group handling defamation and privacy related issues. I also advise Media organisations in relation to Contempt of Court issues.
