I started work in the steelwork industry in 1994 following the footsteps of two generations of steel erectors. I worked as a draughtsman for several years before progressing to project/site management.I continued as a contracts manager for many years prior to taking an opportunity to be part-owner of a mid-sized structural steelwork company.Today I am working at a contracts manager but also commercially manage the projects from sales through to final account.Roles include:Negotiation of contractssales and estimatingbid managementquantity surveyingcash flowsplanning and programminglabour and plant allocationclient liaisondesign coordinationmethod statements and risk assessmentsnegotiation of final accounts.
