J. Christopher Carpenter has been practicing multimedia journalism since 2002, starting out as a reporter, writer, and photographer, and expanding into news and feature videos. From daily to weekly newspapers, to magazines, to online news outlets, her has covered religion, festivals, the settlement of North Korean refugees, court cases, government, and a host of other topics for more than 14 outlets in the United States and South Korea.Chris has taught journalism at the college level, and, after earning a PhD in mass communications from the University of Iowa, has been working as a writer, editor, and project facilitator at the Baha'i National Center in Evanston, Illinois. He has won awards for news writing, photography, and international research. Having lived and worked for more than eight years outside of his native United States--including in South Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, and Nicaragua--he speaks, reads and writes Korean and Portuguese at the intermediate levels.In addition to his work as a writer, editor, and reporter, Chris is a full-time father and husband, and is active in his faith community.
