As my personal journey developed, Canadian Tire offered me a role as Database architect. My evolving responsibilities include defining and driving out enterprise-wide database designs. I now have the ability to affect posiitive change in all Canadian Tire lines of business, including Sportchek, Marks, Part Source, Financial services, etc.My experience as an operational DBA has granted me a unique perspectives for the realities of the field, combined with management experience from a costing perspective, should result in project success.I've been involved in large projects right out of the gate, including standardizing database deploys enterprise wild, modernizing our monitoring systems, and migrating from Unix big endian AIX multi terabyte databases into Linux little endian databases.

I am now honoured to serve amongst a strong team of DBA's at FGL Sports. We are chiefly responsible for the administration and growth of a multitude of Oracle, MSSQL, and IBM database systems.My personal responsibilities are primarily ensuring that our day to day business needs are met using a vast array of technologies and data movement, including but not limited to, facilitating data movement between POS store terminals, into staging environments, broadcasted out to many interfaces including IBM Netezza tech, Oracle data warehouses and MSSQL dashboards.I have been serving in a capacity of operational and project DBA, working closely with many tiers of groups, including storage, IBM support tech and our unix teams.From a 10,000ft ceiling, I am part of team responsible for multiple IBM Netezza environments, over 100+ instances of many versions of Oracle (from 9i to 12c) and several iterations of MSSQL(2005-2012), shared between corporate and franchise.

My career has now led to me to a new challenge, working in the capacity of senior SQL Server DBA, head of migration, consolidation and upgrade projects.Once again with the goal of improving business intelligence, I also work closely with all aspects of Si's personnel force, serving data at all levels, from recruiter to executive team.I am in the midst of righting the database team's ship, instituting proper change management protocols and working closely with the infrastructure lead to support the development of the disaster recovery plan.

My capacity at this company is rich and challenging. I serve all aspects of FT Services business from a technical standpoint, ranging from vendor negotiation and management, to enterprise-level SQL Server DBA. I have instituted best practices in regards to SQL Server DBA techniques, complete from Backup and Recovery to creating a disaster recovery plan in accordance with our internal IT Governance plan. I am trusted to work on a multitude of projects, and consequently have completed intranet portal document control projects, over a SharePoint 2010 infrastructure, an LMS project that interfaces with both our internal SAP system and a downstream 3rd party application, as well as a myriad of other tasks.I'm also the key technical resource for bringing onboard time and material monitoring software to suit a critical business need, which has benefits in real time tracking and reporting of men onsite for Suncor and CNRL.Through close mentorship, I have been granted manager status, and enjoy working at a planning, project controls, and vendor interaction which has led to a natural progression of my career.

I designed, modeled, implemented and supported the Harmony database at Fekete. I manage the entire production environment for the Oracle environment, as well as basic MSSQL administration (where my experience is applicable)I have designed and implemented the GIS database backend that Fekete Harmony uses to plot wells and related information.Furthermore, I've architected a results summary screen, from the ground up, ranging from interface design, documentation standards, and maintenance and performance monitoring.I'm also lead architect for the CBM component, adding the necessary changes to the database schema and not interrupting standard operation.I also administrate along with the production environment, the testing component system, where we have multiple data sets of varying sizes. I've installed and configured Oracle 10g for this task, and utilizing a variety of Oracle specific tools to monitor performance and database backup management.

I worked as a junior architect, designing many components for our new government pharmacy monitoring project. I've cultured and improved upon interface layer technology, and segued with the company from a view based solution to a package based solution.Furthermore, I also designed, and implemented in PL/SQL, a core component of this project, the overdose prevention module. The company trusted me with this core component that monitors a person drug usage, and has the potential to warn the pharmacy if a person, for a variety of reasons, if the person has exceeded safety limits.I also worked on a optimization tiger team for this project, as well as a select few others, where upon initial release of this internal product performed exceedingly poorly. I participated in a team that took initial run time for product execution from 20 minutes down to 1.5 seconds. I contributed as a technical lead on the ASR project, which was a system wide replacement of the Alberta Blue Cross admin system, as well as a variety of other projects

I migrated a foxpro database to an Oracle 9i installation, that I had configued and set up myself. I created and managed backup protocols, using RMAN, and instituted standard project tiers (development, test, production)I created a data warehouse for this organization as well, and based on the recommendations that my data mining had revealed, saved the organization in fuel costs, and miles the trucks had to drive.
